Join Leonard Rosenthol, Adobe's PDF standards architect, as he takes you on a tour of the preflight feature in Acrobat 9. Learn about areas and features in preflight that are (unfortunately) hidden behind the scenes. This Tech Talk is especially useful for those members in areas other than prepress, as Leonard looks at how to check (and fix) other areas of PDF as well—legal, AEC, forms and more. There is something for everyone in preflight and this is the place to learn about how to find it.

Some of what will be covered:

Repair PDF files for common trouble spots such as fonts that aren't embedded or images below a certain resolution
Convert documents to conform to a existing standards for online, digital or print distribution
Fix common problems encountered when printing & publishing
Check whether PDFs have been OCRd or are black and white vs. color
Create custom, reusable preflight profiles to lighten your workload in the future

Who should attend?

Suitable for users of all levels. Familiarity with the Acrobat preflight tool is helpful.

About the presenter

Leonard Rosenthol
In addition to being an AUC Expert, Leonard Rosenthol is the PDF Standards Architect for Adobe Systems. In this role, he serves as technical expert for the U.S. delegation to ISO TC171 (PDF, PDF/A, PDF/E, PDF/UA) and TC130 (PDF/X and PDF/VT) as well as the Adobe representative to the ICC and ETSI.
