Shared Review - Review Deadline (Acrobat X)

Unfortunately, I have a couple of questions I am hoping someone can help me with. Just for some background (in case it matters), we are using a WebDAV server for our Shared Reviews. A Review commonly has 40-100 Reviewers "join".

1. If one is not the Initiator, is there a way to change the Deadline ?

We have several reviews (with extensive comments/replies) that are now past their deadlines and need to be extended, but the initiator is out on medical leave.

-------

2. Is there any documentation about the "local" copy of the review that is created?

I have noticed that if that local copy is renamed, moved, or deleted, you will not be able to change the Deadline. Is there a workaround for this? Is there something that we can do to change the deadline if the original local file was altered? Restoring the file does not seem to "fix" the problem.

The review, because it's actually taking place on the WebDAV server, works just fine for both the initiator and reviewers. The local copy, in fact, connects to the server version of the review and reflects all updates. Are any other functions (besides the deadline) compromised?

I could not find anything on Adobe's site regarding the local copy of the review. I just sort of stumbled across this when trying to figure out why my users were having intermittent problems changing their deadlines.

Thank you in advance for ANY help!!!

1. To change the deadline for already published reviews, you can start the review process again using these steps:
a. With the Review open in Acrobat: Click the Save as Archive Copy button on the yellow bar across the top
b. With the Saved archive copy you just made, Initiate a new shared review with a new deadline (distribute to same reviewers)
c. Since the review file already contains comments, Acrobat will prompt you to publish existing comments to the review server. If you choose Yes, all comments will be published by your identity on behalf of the original reviewer. You will now have a new review, with all reviewers' comments published on your behalf.

2. Sorry, I there isn't much more documentation out there on the local copy. The above steps may work for re-starting a review if the local copy is lost.

We are having a problem getting the Shared Review function to work in Acrobat v9.0 and later. Version 8.0 always worked but when we upgraded the Shared Review function would not let us get past this error message in the [Create Shared review] context menu: "Status-could not save the Shared review-enabled pdf file."

Any suggestions would be a great help.

Gerard,

This is a documented Error: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405533.php

The fix is to manually email the link to the PDF for Shared Review and the reviewers will be able to comment on and review the document as normal. That is the only portion that fails. It is caused because Acrobat 8 required you to make the PDF Reader Enabled before sending the review. Acrobat 9 Enables the PDF as part of creating the review.
