Adobe Reader X, where is the manual download?

The "Adobe installer" plugin has never worked for me, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole if I could avoid it.

In the past, I have successfully avoided the issue by following the (ever more circuitous) links to the manual download for the installer, downloaded it and run it manually the old fashioned way.

But now that link seems to be gone, and all the links just lead nowhere or to another stupid text telling me to use that @!#* installer plugin.

So where did the manual download for the installer go?, I am just trying to get the reader so I can access PDF files that are already on my hard drive.
