Sounds like a registry problem!

If it were me; I would run a good registry checker program and try again.

Hope this helps....

Re: Saving package file in Acrobat 8.0 Prof

I have my doubts if this wld be a registry problem as I have installed Acrobat 8.0 Pro on another computer as well and it gives the same problem...What I could think of is that it possibly might be problem of memory as the package file is quite heavy.  At present am working with 1 Gb RAM and am considering to install 1 Gb extra.... Wait and see...

Well it might be memory, or lack thereof.  I'd still run a registry checker program. But can't hurt to have an extra 1gb of memory!
