How do I toggle the Typewriter tool to stay active until I select another tool?

Hi dgwaltney,
Unfortunately the new default in Acrobat 8 is to deselect the tool when you move the cursor outside the text box.
If you would like this default behavior changed please make your wishes known by logging on to the Knowledge Base (Help > Online Support > Knowledge Base) and asking for Preference options to control the behavior of the Typewriter tool.

Was this ever solved for Adobe 8 Standard? Can I change the default typewriter tool so that it stays on? I have Adobe 9 Pro too, but it conflicts with my video drivers so I have to use Adobe 8 Standard. Please help.
