Creating a PDF with Acrobat.com

Let's start with a question: Why do I want to convert my document to PDF?

If you think about your document as a presentation of yourself, you want it to be as neat and accurate as possible. You want your resume, promotional flyer, writing sample or image to be viewed just as you viewed it—without changes due to different document software, web browsers or operating systems. PDF (Portable Document Format) was introduced in 1993 as a way to reliably view, print, and share information with other people. Regardless of the computer's operating system, PDF is reliable and consistent, displaying and printing the same every time.

Converting your document to PDF with Acrobat.com is simple:

  1. Sign up for a free account at www.acrobat.com.
  2. Choose the "Create PDF" option under the Actions section after signing in. You can check to make sure your original document type is supported on the Acrobat.com FAQ page.

  3. Pick the file from your computer you want to convert. This step will both automatically upload the original file to your organizer under "All Files" and create a PDF version of the file.

  4. View your finished PDF using the Open or Open in a New Window options from the organizer. You can open the file by either double-clicking the title or by highlighting the title and using the drop down menu.

  5. Download or use Share to distribute your finished PDF.

You can convert up to 5 documents with a free Acrobat.com account. If you need more than that, consider the two subscription options, both with unlimited PDF conversions.

Re: Converting PDF to a form via Acrobat.com

Hi,

Unfortunately you cannot create forms or convert existing PDF documents to forms using Acrobat.com. You will need Acrobat desktop software to do that. But you can then distribute that PDF form for collecting the data using Acrobat.com. There are tutorials here on the site to help you with that.

Thanks,

Re: Can PDF files be converted to

Acrobat 9 supports converting to .doc. Acrobat.com does not have this capability. You can still open that .doc in your Office applications and save as .docx once you have edited that Word file.

Thanks,

Ali

Making a PDF on a Mac

On a Mac running 10.x you can print directly to a PDF file (creating a pdf).

When you choose print, just look for the field in the lower left of the print window and change the option to 'Save as PDF'. You will be prompted for the file name and the Mac does the rest for you.

Hi there, Sorry to hear that

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue with converting from Word to PDF. Unfortunately, it's hard to know what is actually wrong based on your comment alone.

You should check the forums to see if someone else has had a similar issue to yours and addressed it, and if not, post all the details you can there. If you attempted to convert your Word file to PDF using Acrobat.com, check the Acrobat.com forums at http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobatdotcom/acrobatdotcom_convert_to_pdf

If this is related to using Adobe Acrobat software, then check the forums here http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/viewforum.php?id=19

You should also search the Adobe support pages at http://www.adobe.com/support

Thanks,

Ali
