I created a PDF from a Catia V5 model using the trial version of Acrobat 3D 8.0. When I try to open the PDF in Acrobat Reader 8.0 I get the message "This 3D format is supported by a more recent release of Adobe Acrobat or Reader, please update." However, I am using the most current versions. Why won't the file open in Reader?

My Product Information:
Reader 8, Windows

It sounds like you are using the new PRC format or U3D ECMA 3.0 to store geometry after conversion. The Acrobat 3D v8 trial and final version are actually built on Acrobat Pro 8.1. No PRC and no U3D 3.0 geometry storage is supported in any of the PDF clients prior to the 8.1 version.

If you download and install the 8.1 Reader, it should work. Although there were some changes to the PRC format during the development cycle. If the PDF you generated doesn't display any geometry after you activate the 3D Annot with your CATIA data, you will nee to regenerate the PDF with the shipping version of Acrobat 3D>
