I am working in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I cannot get it to create 3d pdf's with NX 7.0 or CATIA v5 r19. I have narrowed the problem down to thinking that these versions of CAD are not supported in 9 Pro Extended. So I am thinking to upgrade to X Pro which might support the latest CAD versions, however I cannot find out for sure.
So I have called Adobe several times on this issue and no one seems to know what I am talking about. I have talked to Tech supports and sales with no luck. I need to know specifically what CAD versions that Adobe Acrobat X Pro supports. specifically does it support Siemens NX 6.0 and 7.0?
I have found a link for Acrobat Pro Extended and what supported file formats it is compatabile with but nothing for X pro, I wish there was something similar for x pro.

Acrobat X does not support the conversion of 3D CAD formats to PDF, that technology is now supplied by Tetra 4D, though it is the same technology. The latest version of "3D PDF Converter" does support the formats you mention. You can get more information here... http://www.tetra4d.com/whats-new.php

wait I think I might be mistaken. is acrobat 3d more of less a CAD/design package? I am looking to translate from my CAD - NX, ProE and CATIA into a 3d pdf. Will Acrobat pro extended do this? I have found that I can save directly from my current CAD session of ProE to a u3d pdf but i cannot do this in NX or CATIA and I think it is because that pro extended does not support the versions NX 7.0 and CATIA v5 19.

Acrobat 9 Pro Extended included tools to convert CAD/CAM files into 3D models supported by PDF (namely U3D and PRC).

Acrobat X has NO Pro Extended version. Acrobat X Pro can embed U3D and PRC files, but to make those files you must use third-party software. The Tetra4D "3D Converter" app is one such option, but there are many others on the market, some free and some not. Which is best depends on your specific workflow and the type of models you're converting.

Once the 3D scene is converted into U3D or PRC, Acrobat X Pro is all you need to place that model in a PDF file - and in fact many of the programs which perform the model conversion will also directly-export 3D PDFs.

"Acrobat 3D" was the name used in version 8, when the ability to create 3D content was first released. Back then it was a special version of Acrobat with additional features. This was replaced by Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.

It's not "now" Pro Extended as Acrobat 9 Pro Extended is no longer available - Adobe only sells version X.
