I am using the 30 day trial verison of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I am trying to make a PDF file of a 3D model out of Solidworks. I have successfully made the PDF file, but when the file is opened in Adobe Reader 9, I am not able to comment, measure or cut sections. With the file opened in Acrobat, the file properties show there is no security enabled and all document rights are allowed. With the same file opened in Reader, the file properties show there is no security but Document Assembly, Commenting, Signing and Creation of Template Pages are NOT allowed. I am wondering if this a limitation of the trial version or am I missing some setting in Acrobat when I save the file?? I know I have recieved 3D PDF files from other people that I have been to measure and cut sections. Hope somebody can help me out. Thanks!

You need to open the PDF in Acrobat and in the Advanced menu, select "Extend features in Adobe Reader" - this will secure the file in a special way that allows Reader to activate the extra tools, so only do it when you've finished setting up the document.
