Does anyone know... will there be improvements in Acrobat 9 in terms of PDF accessibility on the Mac?

Currently, tagged PDFs cannot be created using PDFMaker on the Mac. Tags have to be manually added using Acrobat...

fwiw,
An observation and question rather than an answer.
The Acrobat 8 PDF Accessibility API Reference (access.pdf) identifies COM, MSAA, and ATK as, what I'd call the "underpinnings".
That takes care of Windows and Unix. Is there something, from Apple, that is equivalent and usable by Adobe?

Be well...

Be well...

Any update on tagged PDFs with Acrobat 9 on the Mac? I've been away from the forums for the last few weeks, and don't recall if there was any update.

There haven't been any changes for creating tagged PDF from Word on the Mac platform. In fact, the PDF Maker plug-ins for Word, PPT, and Excel on the Mac have been removed (for the most part, they just mirrored what you can accomplish with File: Print). If you create PDF from InDesign as an Export, then you will get tagged PDF, but from Word, you will still need to add the tags in Acrobat. In most cases, Add Tags to Document (Advanced: Accessibility) will give you a good result.

I am a long-time Acrobat user, an employee of Adobe Systems, and Maine native. I have created training videos for Total Training, consulted with people to help them better use Acrobat, and developed new business for Adobe as a Business Development Manager

Is there a post that details the differences between Windows and Mac Acrobat 9? I know there are differences with tagging (no PDFMaker for Mac) and LiveCycle Designer (not on Mac).

I did a quick search in the forums, but didn't find anything.

I'm looking specifically for differences in creating accessible PDFs from Office documents. It seems that Acrobat 9 on Windows is the best solution, given that PDFMaker can be configured for various accessibility options.

Anyone?

Is there another forum/page on acrobatusers.com I should visit for this information?

I attended the Oct 15 online seminar for Acrobat 9. I asked the same question above, and received a response from Steven (or was it Stephanie?) that if I sent my email address, they would send me the comparison document between Mac and PC Acrobat 9.

I sent my email address, but as of today (October 20), I haven't received any document.

Can you tell me who I should contact to have the comparison document sent to me? Thanks.

I've been waiting for a response for two weeks (in order to purchase Acrobat 9)so I have a clear understanding of the differences between the Mac and Windows Acrobat 9 versions. Can someone help?

I'm going to post this on the General forum since it may get more traffic than this forum.
