Accessible Tables for JAWS

Hi there

I'm trying to make a fully accessible PDF using indesign and acrobat professional CS3. This document includes a number of Tables. The end-users are visually impaired people using reader software, mainly Acrobat and JAWS.

When the Tagged PDF is tested in JAWS none of the tables are read. In fact the entire page concerned is read as 'blank'.

Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

Thanks

Claire

Hi,

I suspect that the PDF page content is not tagged.
Suggest you return to the InDesign file.
Confirm that you have the proper tag management selection - for tables in particular.
InD Help should provide adequate info for this if it is needed.
Now, while InDesign does proper tables more robustly than MS Word (but less so than FrameMaker)
you will still have to do some post-processing work with Acrobat Pro to establish an ISO 32000-1 compliant table (and thus, accessible).

Be well...
