I'm having problems getting my pdf files to read to me. I had Adobe Reader 9 and got the below error message. I thought maybe I needed to upgrade, but I still get the below error message. Windows did not shut down the program, nor notify me by the way.

"Adobe Reader has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

I'm not a techie, so did I do something wrong- am I missing a step or something?
I'd appreciate your thoughts...

Thanxs

My Product Information:
Reader 9.0, Windows

I have same problem when opening .pdf files with Adobe Reader X and after few seconds the files is opened a windows error message appears:

"Adobe Reader has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" After closing this messages I do not get new message.

I unistalled and re-installed again with no success.

I would uninstall Reader and make sure you have all instances of Reader removed. When you install the latest version, try installing it as Administrator (right-click on .exe and select "Run as Admin"). Good luck.

To have the lesson read out loud, you should have the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 10.1.1 - See Downloads

1. After installing, open the program click on edit. In the drop down menu click preferences. In the
window that opens, click on “internet” and make sure “display PDF in browser” is NOT checked

2. Click OK – you may have to re-start your computer.

3. Login to the VLA and click on your lesson

4. Click on “PDF file” in the lesson – the lesson will open in a new window with a menu along the top
(File, Edit, View, Etc)

5. Click on View. In the drop down menu click on Read Out Loud / Activate Read Out Loud
(keyboard shortcut shift+ctrl+y)

6. Click on paragraph you would like to have read – Voice will read highlighted text
To read entire page, instead of clicking on a paragraph, Click on View. In the drop down
menu click on Read Out Loud / Read This page only (keyboard shortcut shift+ctrl+v)
