I have a document that originally had bookmarks already created in it. I had to move the pages around and re-arrange the bookmarks. Once i saved and re-opened the document all my bookmarks are gone but one. I re-do all my bookmarks all over again, save , close, re-open and again that same single bookmark is the only one that shows. All my other bookmarks disappear.....???? I've checked the initial viewing settings and they are set for the bookmarks. There are no security settings. I'm on adobe acrobat 8 professional. I had merged a document into my PDF and that's the document that is coming up with the single bookmark and removing all my other ones.

Did you ever solve this problem? I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro and having the same difficulty. I read somewhere that disabling Optimize for Fast Web Viewing would enable me to save bookmarks, but this didn't help.

if you optimize a file and 'discard bookmarks' is selected (under 'discard objects' in 'PDF optimizer'), you will loose the bookmarks

Thanks. I unchecked "discard bookmarks" but I'm not sure if that worked or all the other voodoo I tried did the trick. One thing I learned is not to delete the main bookmark that is automatically placed in the PDF. I can rename it, but if I delete it no other bookmark will save to the file.

here is what works for me. the first bookmark is important. don't delete that else when you re-open you end up with just one bookmark. if adding pages to the front of the document, change the first bookmark name to what you need for the new first page and edit the bookmark properties to have it point to your new first page. Then make new bookmarks for the additional pages, not forgetting a bookmark for the first page of the previous version of the document.

I have reinstalled digital editions but when I set a bookmark, then exit the program, there is a bookmark shown.
When I reopen the document (e book) the document opens at that bookmark, for several seconds, then it goes back to the title page and the bookmark just disappears. What do I need to do to fix this. I don't see this problem covered anywhere in their FAQ's, help topics.
