This might be a question for the FrameMaker community, but I thought I would start here first.
I'm printing PostScript files from FrameMaker 7.2 with the "Generate Tagged PDF" check box cleared. I'm using Distiller 9 to create the PDF file. Occasionally there will be tags in the PDF. If I don't delete them before trying to add tags using Acrobat, I get the "Bad PDF" error.
Any ideas on how the rogue tags might have made it into the PDF in the first place?
Thanks!
or, conversely Distiller compatibility with FrameMaker falls within release/update "bands".
When the two are not harmonized the unexpected occurs.
From one of the dustier shelves in my eLibrary the applicable "bullets" from various Adobe TechNotes follow.
-- FrameMaker 7.2 is compatible with Acrobat Distiller 7.0.
-- FrameMaker 7.1p116 is compatible with either Acrobat Distiller 6.0 or 7.0.
-- FrameMaker 7.1b023 and 7.1p114 are compatible with Acrobat Distiller 6.0.
-- FrameMaker 7.0p579 is compatible with Acrobat Distiller 5.0, 6.0 or 7.0.
-- FrameMaker 7.0p578 is compatible with either Acrobat Distiller 5.0 or 6.0.
-- FrameMaker 7.0p492 and 7.0p576 are compatible with Acrobat Distiller 5.0.
-- FrameMaker 8 is compatible with Distiller versions: 7.0, 8.0, or 9.0.
With that said, I have used FrameMaker 7.2 with Acrobat 8 Professional
(& the Acrobat Distiller associated with it) with no fundamental issues in the past. However, FM 7.2 & Acrobat Distiller 9.x does not fit, even on the margins,
adequately with the FM-Distiller "compatibility bands" discussed in various, tucked away TechNotes.
I suspect you need to move up in FM or down in Acrobat.
Edit :: an upgrade from FM 7.2 to FM 9 is possible -
