You don't need a file open in Acrobat X Windows in order to access the Tools, Comments or Share Panes. Also, you can add Tracker to your Quick Tools area, where it'll be active all the time.

I'm not a Windows user… and I don't understand why Mac users are supposed to not use the Tracker directly…
So, it's an indispensable tool for them!

There's a quirk in the code that prevents the Pane from running on Mac platforms with no documents open, but I can't say if/when it'll be changed. The Quick Tools area is designed for these situations where you need instant access to a button, and (luckily) it works even when the UI is empty.

It's worth saying that Tracker is already an item on the View menu in Adobe Reader X, as there isn't the equivalent "Comment > Review" pane to load into. Maybe for ease of use your tool should also append the Tracker item to the View menu instead of the Edit menu. Have you logged a feature request for a Tracker menu entry in Acrobat?

On Mac with no document open you can just see the menu bar, and the Welcome screen if not disabled (Mac only feature) in the Preferences : General
And I guess that there is no Mac-user who wants that behavior to change!

Yep, and this was also discussed during the beta cycle… I'm afraid there is no hope…

I didn't notice this menu item in Reader X… so, your obviously right, I'll correct that asap.
Thanks.
