Adobe 9 shared review error

I am attempting to send a Shared Review and receiving the following message: "Status: Cound not save the shared review-enabled PDF file".

I have done some research, but have only come up with other people having this error and Adobe saying that this is a known error when using a PDF file that has been enabled for Reader.

My problem is that I am having the error without using a PDF file that has been Reader enabled. I have tried several PDF of various versions and created from various software (MSWord, MSExcel, Adobe, etc.).

HELP!!!

Adobe version: Proffesional 9.0.0
Platform: Windows XP
Storage location: Network folder

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

I'm having the same problem and getting the same error message. Does not matter whether the PDF is Reader enabled or not. Goes through the entire shared review set up and then delivers the same error message. "Status: Could not save the shared review-enabled PDF file"

Is Adobe doing anything about this "known issue."

What settings are you using when creating the PDF? Do you by chance have the setting for "Create PDF/A-1a:2005 compliant document" selected? If so, try to create a PDF without this setting turned on.

I am also having this problem. I am forced to add the hyperlinked doc in my own email sent via outlook...I save as standard .pdf, nothing odd...

It will only work when I send the review as an attachment which is not my preference.

What can this possibly mean? I have several docs a week that need editing and need to store all of them in the same network folder.

I've learned a little more about this error. In Acrobat 9, when network folder is used as a storage location and send as link option is selected to distribute the file, along with the comment repository, a read only copy of the review file is created at the server location. The link of this read only review file is then shared with the reviewers. Also for the initiator, a copy of the review file is created at the same location where the original file is kept. Now if the network folder where you choose to keep the comments of the file is same as the one where the original file is kept, Acrobat will encounter problems in writing both the copies of the file at the same location and hence the error.

A workaround will be to have the original file at a location other than the hosting location where you host the review. So the original file could be either at the local machine of the initiator or at a different location on the network folder. Any other location other than the network location selected for hosting the comments would do.

I actually have been doing that all along...I save original in 'home' network drive (that no one has access to other than me) and the review copy in a shared network folder.

I'm still using my modified version which is to send out a linked doc after the review has been initiated.

We've just hit the same issue.

9.0.0 Professional on XP SP2, when creating a shared review file for webDAV, invariably comes back with "Status: Could not save the shared review-enabled PDF file".

Any solutions identified?

Has anyone tried what is suggested at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/304399 and if so, does it work?

Looks like the issue has *not* been resolved in either 9.1.2 or 9.1.3 ...

Just a note that this particular error was caused by disabling access to Acrobat.com using the Acrobat Customization Wizard. Apparently disabling access through this option prevents access to all Acrobat.com services and also prevents participation in Shared Reviews and live collaboration initiated by others. Check out the following technical note Disable Access Points to Acrobat.com Services in Windows Network Deployments for information on how to enable Shared Reviews but still disable access to Acrobat.com.

I am using Acrobat 9 with MS Outlook on Windows XP and Windows 2000. I am facing error "Status: Could not save the shared review-enabled PDF file".
When I create a new server profile and send fil as attachment, it works.

It is really disturbing as this feature was the main reason to purchase Acrobat 9 Professional.

I was able to remove the entries in the registry other than the (Default) entry, but it only partially resolved the issue. Hopefully Adobe support will be able to help resolve it.

We are extensively engaged in collaborative shared reviews of large documents.

Collaborative shared review done via SharePoint site fails. But the same procedure works fine when done via network folders or fully accessible local folders.

If I send out a review request to the SME having an Acrobat Reader via SharePoint site, the SME is able to post the comments, but neither of us is able to view the comments.

This is how the message on the PDF appears:

Could not get new comments. One or more files are missing on the server.

Sharepoint and Network folders fail for us most of the time. WebDAV works best, but we still see this error on some systems. I think that sometimes permissions are incorrect on the server copy of the files.
