the bubble that comes with highlight text tool

I'm using acrobat 8.2.6.

When I use the highlight text tool, the highlighted text gets a bubble put at the beginning of the text highlighted.

Is there a way to make it go a way? It's blocking other stuff on the page.

Thanks.

Open the bubble and then minimize it, at least that works in Version 8.

The Highlight is an annotation, and all annotations have the provision for optional text comments to be associated with them.

If you don't want it to display in the first place go to Edit - Preferences - Commenting and tick on "Create new pop-ups aligned to the edge of the document" if you don't want to create them at all, and/or "Automatically open comment pop-ups for comments other than notes" if you don't want to display the existing ones.

Hi gkaiseril and try67, thanks for your responses. However neither of your methods seems to be doing what I was hoping for, assuming I understand you correctly.

By "bubble", I mean at the beginning of the text I highlight, there is an extra yellow thing that gets put on top of the text (like the bubbles dialogues in comic books get displayed in) about the size off 2-3 10pt arial characters. I have tried all of your methods but those bubbles remain.

To be specific, the "create new pop-ups aligned to the edge of the document" was already checked. The "automatically open comment pop-ups for comments other than notes" was not but checking it does not seem to do anything I can observe.

I don't ever recall those bubble showing up for as long as I can remember but something unknown has changed recently and they started showing up, blocking other text. Ideally, I'm expecting the highlight tools to work exactly like a highlighter in the physical world with nothing extra added.

I'm using acrobat pro 8.2.6.

If you have any further ideas, that would be great. Thanks.

Tick off this preference (in the same location I mentioned before): Automatically open pop-ups on mouse rollover.

A picture is worth a thousand words but unfortunate there does not seem to be a way for me to put a screen dump onto here.

The "auto open pop-ups on mouse rollover" has always been checked OFF. It's not THAT bubble that I am talking about.

The bubble I'm talking about looks almost identical to the "sticky note" icon as it is displayed in the "comment & markup" tool bar. And it gets placed at the front & on top of every single piece of text I'm highlighting. It is THIS bubble I want to get rid of.Thanks again.

Do you mean the pop-up note?
Tick off "Enable text indicators and tooltips"...
