Callout Line Location

I am using Acrobat callout boxes to mark up some drawings. In one drawing the leader line comes out the side of the callout box. If I drag the knee point to the other side of the box, the line endpoint on the box automatically moves to that side of the box. Neat. In another drawing (generated from the same system) I cannot get the callout leader line to come out of the text box anywhere other than the top. Since the knee only moves horizontally this looks like ... and limits the positioning of the callout box. Is there any way to tell Acrobat where I want the leader line to start on the box end? I seem to be able to move every other part of the line except the attachment point to the text box.

Acrobat Pro 7.0.8, Windows

Hi --

I use the callout tool a lot, and it can be a bit tricky. You can move the knee horizontally and drag the arrow up or down. Often I can finesse the maneuver, and other times I copy the text from the tool's field, delete it, and draw it again.

I'm having the same problem, but I've noticed that Acrobat will orient the leader in respect to the page orientation: in other words, if I create a page in portrait view, Acrobat will draw the leader horizontally; if I rotate the page in Acrobat, or create the page in landscape view, Acrobat will draw the leader vertically. This default behavior is annoying, at the least. In the AEC industry, 99% of all documents I need to comment/markup are in a landscape orientation, which renders the callout tool mostly useless for my purposes. If anyone knows how to change this behavior, I would appreciate the solution. I'm hoping that I'm just missing something totally obvious.

I am also experiencing this problem. Hard to believe Adobe programmers would do such a silly thing. Very frustrating.

Hi masterdon,
fwiw - I suspect the problem is associated with Acrobat 7.
