Client can't read my comments (sticky notes)

I have the creative suite and am trying to send my client proofreading markups (comments using sticky notes) on PDFs that she's first sending to me.

My version is Acrobat Professional 8 (8.1.2), but she can't read them! Is there something I can do on my end to enable her to read my notes? I don't know what version she is using, but should that make a difference? I also don't know if she's on a Mac or not (I'm on a PC using Windows).

We send Word docs back and forth without issue...This is a real head-banger as it's taking so much time to do proofreading jobs for her since I have to look at her PDF and then write the changes she needs in Word. Can anybody help?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.2, Windows

She should be able to read your sticky notes even with Adobe Reader but she may not be able to add them unless the PDF is reader-enabled for commenting.

Can you find out what version of the product she is using?

I just sent her an e-mail asking her what version she is using. I will send her answer back to you when I hear from her, but does the version or platform matter?

I don't need her to add to the comments; she only needs to be able to read them (the sticky notes I create on the PDFs she sends to me). This is the problem. She can't read my notes when I send the PDF back to her.

It seems like since she is the one creating the PDFs, she should automatically be able to read my sticky notes.

Thanks for any enlightenment on this.

Just an idea: If you open your pdf with the sticky notes go under the menue 'ADVANCED' and select 'Extend Features in Adobe Acrobat Reader'. This should enable her to use the comments & sticky notes etc. in case she just has a simple Acrobat Reader and no writer. The other option available - if for some reason it is a matter of platform - which I can not believe but not all technical things are logical: Go to https://www.acrobat.com/ which is perfect for exchanging documents and as it is internet-based you are independent of any platform etc. issues.

Perhaps this helps!

Thanks to both of you for your advice.

She has replied to me and told me she does not even have Acrobat Reader. She has been creating the PDFs with something called Cute PDF and reading them with something called FoxIt Reader 2.2.

I have asked her to download the free Adobe Reader and she has agreed to do so for the next project. (I had assumed she was using Acrobat and already had the Reader! That's what I get for making assumptions!)

Anyway, I think once she does this, she will be able to read my Sticky Notes all right.

Again -- thanks!
