Commenting Metrics

How can the commenting attributes be customised to include an additional field having a single alpha or numeric character? Our expectation would be to rank the adequacy of an individual comment when the document is being reviewed. Then get acrobat to sort the ranking to give an overall metric of how good and/or bad the content of the document is considered to be. If the overall adequacy of the document is very poor and should not be published, the metric would instantly impart this to the review sponsor.

Without writing a very complex plugin, you can't. Comments in a PDF file have a fixed structure as defined in the ISO standard, you can't add arbitrary data fields nor can you change the Comments Pane layout, Properties dialogs, etc.

It would be silly for the ISO standard not to include collation of any metrics! So what is allowed?

Look at the JavaScript properties of the annotation object.
