Probably a simple question, but: Is there a way to make comments I put on a PDF permanent? We check other people's drawings for accuracy, and often have comments where errors on their drawings have occured. We send our comments back to them on the same PDF. I'd like a way to make these comments permanent, so that they cannot change them. We currently make our comments, print the pdf to make another pdf, so that the comments cannot be edited. Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks for your help!
Yes there is a simpler way. You need to use Preflight in Acrobat 8 Professional.
Follow these steps:
1. Choose Advanced > Preflight to open the Preflight dialog box.2. Click the PDF fixups label to open the list and scroll down. Select Flatten annotations.
3. Click Options on the Preflight dialog box and choose Create Preflight Droplet.
4. In the Preflight: Droplet Setup dialog box you'll see the selected action is listed. If you like, choose folder locations for successful and unsuccessful conversions.
5. Click Save. Name and save the droplet file. It's easiest to use when you store it on your desktop.
6. Now check the desktop or the storage location where you saved the file. You'll see an icon that looks like a blue arrow with a magnifying glass inside.
7. Drag your file from its storage location to the icon and drop it. The file is processed.
When you open the file, your comments are still included, but they are now flattened and become part of the document itself.
