Problem
I cannot print my comments from either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader? Why?
Solution for Acrobat
The solution to this issue differs by product:
Acrobat 8/9 - Make sure to select "Document and Markup" in the Comment and Forms section of the Acrobat Print dialog box. Also make sure the following Preference is set Edit --> Preferences --> Commenting category "Print notes and pop-ups"
Acrobat 6 and 7 make sure to select ' Document and Markup' in the 'Print What' section of the Acrobat Print dialog box.
In Acrobat 5 tick the box "print comments" in the Acrobat Print dialog.
Solution for Adobe Reader
The solution to this issue in Adobe Reader differs by platform. The default behavior for versions of the Reader earlier than 9 is not to print comments, which is why it requires a reg. key modification.
Windows:
Reader 9 - Make sure to select "Document and Markup" in the Comment and Forms section of the Acrobat Print dialog box.
In order to print comments from Adobe Reader 6, 7, or 8 you need to change a registry key. Please note that you edit the registry at your own risk.
Open the registry editor and browse to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ADOBE\Acrobat Reader\6.0(or7.0, or 8.0)\Annots\cPrefs
Double click the 'bprintCommentPopups' key and change the value to 1
For Adobe Reader 8 you will need to add the key manually.
Add the following Reg key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\8.0\Annots\cPrefs]
"bprintCommentPopups"=dword:00000001
Macintosh:
Note: You must have Mac OS X Developer Tools loaded to use Property List Editor (or use any other Property List editor)
1. Open the file "com.adobe.Reader7.0.plist" in the following directory location:
"Macintosh HD/Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Preferences/"
2. Navigate the following path:
"Root/Annots/Prefs/1/printCommentPopups"
3. Change the Boolean value to "True'
4. Go to File>Save.
