I'm converting a newspaper article to pdf and trying to highlight some of the text. I have done this numerous times and suddenly it will not let me do this. I received some message about renderable text, which I've never gotten when I've done this in the past?? I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 9.2, Windows

Toft, did you scan the article from a scanner? If so, you'll need to run Optical Character Recognition (OCR) before you can highlight text. Direct scans come in as simple pictures. OCR recognizes text and puts an invisible layer of it on top of the image, such that you can highlight or select it.

DOCUMENT > OCR TEXT RECOGNITION > RECOGNIZE TEXT USING OCRThere will be some settings you can adjust.

If OCR has already been performed, then I'm at a loss as to what to tell you!

to highlight an image use the rectangle tool and set its properties (border color, fill color, opacity, etc.) to suit your taste.

Thank you to rbogie and SeattleUser for trying to assist me with my text highlighting issue. It took a few days, but I found out the problem was due to a download of an update to McAfee anti-virus software. Something in this update caused me several problems - this being one. We know have the problem corrected. Thank you again for assisting.
