Highlights - how to print? (Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0)

I am reading a large PDF on my computer screen and want to print out ONLY the text in the PDF that I have highlighted in yellow using the "Highlight Text" toolbar. I cannot find how to do this. Any ideas? Thanks!

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 6.0, Windows

Hi Jim47,

Here are some threads (from these forums) regarding this topic, but I am unsure if they will apply to Acrobat 6. It has been along time since I used Acrobat 6 and I don't remember if this functionality was in that version.

Hopefully one of those suggestions will fit your needs.

Hope this helps,

Thanks but none of the suggestions are working. It seems that Pro 6 is not recognizing a Highlight as a comment or mark up. Thus when any function tries to print me out the stuff I've highlight it is just empty

Any other thoughts? Many thanks

Hi jim47,

You do need to set that preference mentioned in one of those threads "before" you do the highlighting- so this would not work for things you have already highlighted without that preference set (Edit --> Preferences --> Commenting "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups). Without that set, when you highlight text of interest, the highlight color is an object floating above the text, so extracting it would only extract the highlight and not the text under it. Try setting the preference, then do some highlighting and see if it works. Of course, this could be a version issue as well- I'm not sure on this.I don't believe there are any other options for you using Acrobat's built-in user interface. If you have programming knowledge of Acrobat JavaScript I believe this could be developed as an automation tool accessed by a custom menu item or toolbar button. Not an easy task if you aren't familiar with JavaScript though.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Many thanks! It finally is working. One additional question. When I choose Document>Summarize Comments I get a new PDF of the Highlights I made in the original document, which is great. But the new PDF output of the Highlights insists on including - for *every* Highlight - Author (me!), Subject, Date, etc. This is just junk to me - all I want is the Highlighted text (which it includes) and the page reference (which it also includes).Any ideas how I can customize the "Summarize Comments" template/output to get rid of these extraneous fields?

Thanks again!

Thanks for the help in this specific thread. It is just the problem I am trying to resolve. I would be delighted to hear the next reply.
Thanks again to both Dimitri and Jim47. Brian.
