Inserting previously highlighted text into comments

Hello All,

I have a bunch of scanned & ocr-ed pdf's from which I need to highlight and extract certain passages.

So after reading the forums, I've realized that it's possible to get highlighted text to appear in comments with the following actions: "Edit --> Preferences --> Commenting "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups"

My problem is that I've already gone through hundreds of pages of pdf's and highlighted text without knowing about this option. Unfortunately, enabling this option does not retroactively import highlighted text into comments. Does anyone know of a way in which I can automatically insert already-highlighted text into the comments/ sticky note associated with each highlighted passage?

Thanks for your help!

The only way I know of is with a script that recognizes the words underneath the highlight and then sets the annotation's content to them. I created this script and if you're interested in it, you can contact me privately.
I think that this option in the Preferences should be enabled by default, by the way. It is a very handy setting, which not many people are aware of.
