Is there a way to set a shared review so that it sends me an email notification that someone has added comments? If we implement this as a workflow process, it'll take a lot of time for us to check each file regularly to see if any comments have been made.

I think it depends on what comment repository you uses. With a WebDAV server like Milton (java web app that provides the WebDAV functionality) it should be possible to implement that.

Check out the Preferences in Acrobat under Tracker (Edit > Preferences > Tracker). You'll find preferences for automatically checking for new comments in a shared review (1 hour to never). You can also suspend the Check for New Comments -- also you can receive notifications in a system tray or inside Acrobat.
