pdf client proofing system - template or stamps

I desperately need to learn how to create an effective client proofing system that includes agency branding along with the ability to customize the proof with job specific information. For example -- Proof number -- artist name -- project -- date, etc.

I have been looking for a step-by-step tutorial online for a few hours and can't find anything conclusive. Should I be looking at using a Template or using a Custom Stamp? I'm thinking a template with form fields -- right? But once created how do I include this as a visible element on each and every proof we send out?

Please -- anyone with a clear method or link to a page on how to do this -- help.

Thanks in advance.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Macintosh

Have you looked at dynamic stamps? Thom Parker has a tutorial about how to create these. And he also provides information about adding text to the dynamic stamp during the stamping process. You can also include custom data based on the identity object of Acrobat which can include the company name, user name and email address and with the use of document level JavaSdript you could also create other custom identity properties.

There is also a watermark feature available in Acrobat.

You should also consider what products your users will be using to review the PDFs as some features will require the authorization of special rights for those users with Reader and some features like templates are not available to Reader.

There are also differences between Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer that can also restrict which Acrobat features are available.

This is a free user to user forum and most responders are not paid and provide their insight to help others gain skills in the use of Acrobat. And the hope is there will be a like kind service for the help received.

I actually stumbled upon the tutorial regarding the watermarks today. I took that information and developed a process for us that works well. I made a quick -- and rough PDF (along with screen grabs) of how I did it for our staff. I'd be happy to share that if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the response.

Hi btagalen,

I'm sure many members here would find it helpful to see your example, especially the screenshots showing what you did. Share away :)

I'll put a better version together tomorrow and post a link to it. I have to leave work in 2 hours and still have a few things to finish, so first thing tomorrow I'll get back to it.
Thanks.
