Pixelization in browser

I'm working on a browser based review system. To simplify, users log into a website and then click a link to open a PDF in their browser window. From there they can make comments and then upload the comments for others to see. My problem has to do with the on screen display of the PDF in the browser window. When the PDF is opened in the browser, large sections appear very pixelated. Scrolling around can eliminate the pixelation in some areas but it shows up in other areas then. Disabling "Smooth images" keeps this from happening, unfortunately that is not an option as the images in the PDF need to look the same on screen as they do when opened in Photoshop (this is a softproofing system). This seems like it may be a shortcoming of the browser plugin. I'm using Acorbat 7. I do not get the same effect when viewing the PDF in the Acrobat application. I've tested on both OS X & Windows and the browser pixelization problem occurs on both platforms. Also to note, if I open the PDF in my browser from my local hard drive there is no pixelization. It seems to happen only when the PDF is being accessed via HTTP. Any ideas?

Are you viewing the document at the same zoom level on all systems and in all applications? Try to set the intial view to Fit Page and see if you can view the document identical in all browsers and all applications using identical screen resolutions on all computers.
