Re-Posting Network Connection Error from Reader

Hi,

When trying to connect to in internal server for a shared review I get an error saying that Acrobat cannot access the network. I'm using Acrobat Reader 9.4 on a Mac, the server is mounted via SMB.

When I restart the Mac, I can connect, it seems that Acrobat is buggy in this regard.

From the Mac, I can see and save to the server location without any problems. I have read/write rights.

Does anyone know how Acrobat Reader connects to the review Server, is it going thru the Finder to access the file, or some other method?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Evan

Hi, did you ever fix this? I have a similar issue. I had set up a webDAV server using an OS X client and a bit of software called WebMon. It was working fine a few weeks ago but has broken for no apparent reason. I can still mount the WebDAV share through the Finder and send PDFs for review which Acrobat is able to write to the share. But when I open a shared file, which is on the share, either the Reader or Acrobat Pro says it can't find the review server.

Very strange, any ideas?

I've gotten closer. I found out that a small application called Adoberesourcesynchronizer needs to be running. It makes the connection to the server for Acrobat. It should launch automatically when Acrobat is launched, but I believe that it does not always launch. I have not run into the problem lately, but I am anxious to see if and when I do, if the app is not running. You can tell on the Mac by looking in Activity Monitor, to see if it is listed.
To force it to launch, I placed an alias of the app on the desktop, in hopes of launching it if the problem happens again. You need to Open Package Contents in Pro, then go to Contents/Support/ to find the app.

Hi Evan, thanks for your reply. The sync app is running unfortunately, so this wasn't the cause of my issue. I have just got off the phone with Adobe and have purchased a Tier 2 contract, so I'll post back if they have any more suggestions or insight into how this is supposed to work.

Cheers,

Greg
