Hello,
I am fairly new to the idea of Shared Reviews. My boss has asked me to investigate if the functionality works and to prepare an example on the usage of the process. While watching tutorials and reading other articles I noted that I could allow people with Adobe Reader to participate in the shared reviews. However, I still cannot get it to work.
I will start by saying I am using a trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. 9.0.0.
The process I went through was using two seperate documents. One that was given to me, and one that I created myself using word. I will use the one given to me as I experimented with it more. Upon opening the file I checked the security settings to ensure editing is enabled.
I then go to Comments -> Enable for Commenting and Analysis in Adobe Reader. I am then prompted to save the file as a new file. I add "_reader" to the file and save. When I click Comments -> Send for Shared Review I get an error saying "The document you have chosen cannot be sent for shared review because the security permissions do not currently allow modifications. Please select another document or change this document to allow modifications.".
I read an article that said to do a "Save Copy" of this document. So I add "Copy" onto the file name and click save. I then navigate to the new copy and open the document. Upon inspection I see that the document is no longer enabled for adobe readers, but again the security settings are set properly.
Am I missing something? It seems like this process takes you in circles. When I open the document in Adobe Reader it does not show the shared review toolbar or welcome message. As well when I sent the document to my colleagues they had the same thing.
Thank you for any help you can offer.
