Shared Review_some can comment, some can not

I just watched Ali's 'webinar'. about shared reviews. We've tried this before with some success but keep running into the same issue.

Document created in Pro 9.3.2 and saved on a shared network drive.

Sent out as a shared review. Some reviewers can log on and post comments, publish and view new comments.

Some users will receive the email, open the PDF, and then not get the prompt to join the review. The document will open but they do not come up in the shared review. They appear in the Adobe Tracker as reviewers.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I couldn't find it in a search.

This is City of Seattle. We are using Outlook. Can't make sense of why some of can and some can't. The versions of Reader range from 9.3.1, 9.3 and 9.0.0...doesn't seem to make a difference. All have access to the network file.

Thanks
Dean

Maybe their adobe reader identity is not the same as what's configured for them in shared review. Check Edit -> Preferences -> Identity.

Was this ever resolved? We are having the same issue. Users with Adobe Reader 9 can not publish comments. They can not join a review.

Shared review PDF should be saved in the recipients My Documents folder on their WinPC. Recipients with Acrobat Pro can comment and collaborate in real time. Recipients with Reader can add comments to their saved shared review but cannot comment and share in real time. To share comments, recipients with reader must send shared review PDF back to initiator who has Acrobat Pro on their WinPC. Initiator opens e-mail attachment, which opens in Acrobat Pro and then adds comments to the original shared review PDF. Alternatively, arrange for recipients with Reader to log on to another person’s WinPC on their network that has Acrobat Pro. Recipient now has temporary access to Acrobat Pro from their account and can comment and collaborate in real time.

To recap, ideally all recipients of shared review PDF should have permanent or temporary access to Acrobat Pro. If not, the review initiator will have to facilitate shared review.
