Stamp Copying Issue

I'm having a problem in Acrobat 9 Pro with Stamp Annotations.

I've created a few non-dynamic custom stamps. I'll insert the custom stamp into the current page, and then copy-paste it to another location on the same page. If I try to rotate one of them, the other one rotates as well. The display of the first arrow does not always update on its own, but if I rotate one, then click on the other, they are both rotated the same direction. This behavior occurs with ALL of my custom stamps, regardless of which program they originated from (raster and vector).

Doing this same procedure with any of the stock stamps that ships with Acrobat, the stamps can rotate independently.

Any thoughts on why this might be occurring, or what I might do to my custom stamp to fix it? Can anyone else replicate this behavior?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Windows

Don't use the copy/paste instead try dragging from the Stamps palette or creating it from the menu.

I'll agree that that's a workaround, but that doesn't fix the issue.

Sometimes Ctrl+C Ctrl+V is faster than digging though a menu, or going to the stamps palette - so it should be an option too...

This is a feature, not a problem. When you copy a stamp Acrobat uses the same appearance, which keeps the file size down. But it also means that all copied annots track each other.

You have easy access to the last stamp used on the stamp toolbar button. And you can also get around this by creating your own toolbar button to activate the stamp tool, then you'd have one click access to the stamp all the time.

But all of the stock Adobe stamps do not reference the same appearance dictionary when copied, and don't track each other - so from a user's perspective it would make sense that a custom stamp could do the same. From a programmer's perspective, I get where you're coming from and what the program is trying to do. Who doesn't want to save some space??

The workaround I ended up going with was taking one of the stock Adobe stock stamp files, inserting the custom vector image that I wanted to use instead on top of the stock image, and flattening the whole thing. It's not a pretty solution by any stretch, but it worked around the problem.

Keyboard control was absolutely essential, and so I had to do something...

Also, if you have single-key accelerators enabled in your preferences you can just hit "K" and it will insert the same stamp.

Great Solution!! I'll have to try that out. I wonder if there's some attribute in the stamp that determines whether apperance is copied or referenced.
