I can create a text box, type text inside it and use the cursor to select the text. I can even highlight the text box itself and then move or resize it. However, my properties toolbar is greyed out and deactivated so I can't change font size, color, etc. and my properties toolbar doesn't change when I switch between selecting the text box itself to the actual text inside the box. How do I activate my text box properties toolbar?

Here's another textbox anomaly: When I go to the Text Box Tool from the Comment and Markup menu, I am able to type text just fine. But once I click out of that field, it completely disappears, never to be seen again! I also put a date field in a form that did the same thing, except in that case, as long as I clicked inside the field containing the date, it would be visible, but would disappear as soon as I tabbed to the next field. These two issues seem to be very similar and I wonder if there may be something wrong with the Text Box Tool in general. I have Acrobat 9 Pro and Windows XP, with MS Office Suite 2003.

Have you tried updating to 9.1? Do you see any change in behavior if you use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + e to bring up the Properties menu?
