text box tool issues

I am using 9 pro extended
Sometimes properties works properly, sometimes I get 'no content selected'.
Sometimes I get part of the properties available to change.
When I say sometimes I mean in the same session.

I suppose I will have to institute some kind of ritual to work around this.
I'm hoping one of you will tell me to change my _______ setting to ____ and all will be well.

Please!

if you type multiple lines in a text box with a space between each line the spacing disappears when you exit the text box. How do I retain the spacing?

That's a bug in Acrobat 9, so you'll have to hope it will be fixed in an upcoming update.
