text color in measure distance tool

When I use the measure distance tool the text is not editable, either for size, font or color and is always black. If I change the default text color for the entire program it changes it for all other mark-ups, but the measure distance tool still shows as black. I can change the color of the line in the "measure distance properties" but there is nowhere to change the text color. How do I change the text color in the measure distance tool?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8, Windows

Hi jimi --

You don't change the color. It's a label, which is different from other text or comment content. If you want a matching color, add text using the TouchUp Text tool.

Thanks for the reply Donna, however I think I wasn't clear enough about my issue. The "text" I am referring to is the distance value created by the tool itself. When a measure distance line is created it places the value or distance in the middle of the line and makes the color black. The touch-up text tool has no affect on the number value of the distance tool.

I am creating PDF's from pictures that are very colorful and I need to change the colors of the line, the arrow, and the numerical values so they can be read and not blend into the background.

I can choose to not display the distance value that is created by the tool and instead create a text box that I can place in the middle of the newly created line with the distance value, but that is another step that shouldn't be required IMO.

Thank you for your continued help.

This is my issue also. I am a kitchen designer. I get pdfs of blueprints emailed to me which I then use the distance tool to measure the space for cabinets. Since the Acrobat dimension font is black and small it, it makes it nearly impossible to see since the blueprint's drawings and text are also black. It seems like such an easy thing to offer as a preference option. I don't understand why changing the dimension font color and size isn't an option.

I have a similar issue:
We're in the heavy steel construction (fabrication and erection) business. Version 9 now has a measurement tool that acts more like a comment tool. It is labeled Anaysis, so in all fairness, it does do the job correctly by scaling the drawing and showing the units specified in preferences. The thing is, we don't want the little comment bubble with the dimensions.
In Adobe Pro 7 we could add a dimension lines and arrows to a drawing and add text to show the dimension, actual or in question. I cannot find a way to suppress the comment and leave the dimension lines on the drawing. Technical support at Adobe is stumped. The representative told me that her's doesn't do this. I had to FTP the drawing to her to show that mine does. She had me go into prferences/commenting, and uncheck "show lines...", then reset my toolbars (loosing all of my settings), but that made no difference when adding the distance lines. I've been waiting an hour for a call back, she told me 30 minutes. My users want to go back to version 7, which I do not want to do.
Any suggestions?

With Acrobat 8 Pro/3D all but the text/number color can be changed via the Properties Bar.
Open the Properties Bar, select the line(s) placed by a 2D measuring tool.
The line type, line color & line end-points can have different colors.
A selection can be locked or set as the default.
Other options (except for text/number color) can be set in the Preferences for Measuring (2D)

Properties Bar (Windows) > Ctrl + E
or View > Toolbars > Properties BarBe well...

Be well...

I found a way that works (for version 7 at least):
1) Copy the text from the measurement tool and paste it into WordPad (note that this did not work in MS Word).
2) Change the font size, color, etc, but don't change the type (mine was Helvetica).
3) Copy it and paste it back over the text box in the dimensioning tool. Don't highight the text individually, but the entire box if possible.

Now you can make copies of this dimension.

I did not really play around with this much, so you might be able to set it as the default or it might work if the font is Helvetica in MS Word, etc.

I found the answer to a few of our problem for Pro 9 and Pro 9 Extended. To turn off the Measurement text go to the individual measurents: >Properties > Apperance >
(Uncheck - "Show Text in line") and then >Check "Make Properties Default" so it will suppress the
measurements displaying.
Then Open and undock the Typewriter Tool bar and place your own measurements where and how
you want them.

So far it has worked fine for me. Hope it helps.

I have similar problem too but I usually open the pdf file in my illustrator to get the real value of font and distance. Unfortunately i am not 100% if that is correct.
