Typewriter Tool Will Not Enlarge Text Size

Although I can type using the typewriter tool, the functions for increasing and decreasing the size of text are no longer working. The buttons for those functions do not turn on. Why?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Acrobat Standard 7.0.8, Windows

I believe you have to double-click on the annotation first.

I have tried that many times. The function worked perfectly for over a year; then just stopped one day.
