v9 difficulties in commenting on v8 PDFs

We're running Acrobat 8 and are considering upgrading to v9. We've not done so because about a yr ago reviewers using v9 Reader had many difficulties trying to add comments to our PDFs that were created in Acrobat 8. If I remember correctly, this forum had many postings at that time about the difficulties v9 reviewers were having with v9 PDFs as well.

Note: These issues arose when we used a network share on our LAN (not on Adobe.com servers).

Have those issues been resolved in the current patch levels of Acrobat 9 and Reader 9?

If so, we'll go ahead and upgrade to Acrobat 9.

Thanks for any input on this....

It's been a year but I think the issue we had was that reviewers using Reader 9 didn't get the commenting bar. Over half of our reviewers experienced that problem, whereas reviewers using Reader 8 had no problems.

I think Adobe posted a workaround at that time that involved downloading the Reader 9 SDK and creating a customized Reader MSI that omitted the Adobe.com server from the Reader 9 installation package. I never tried that cuz I don't care too much for altering a product...I want the product to work as is. That's why we stayed with v8 and am now hoping Adobe has patched v9 sufficiently to resolve those early issues.
