Here's the background: I have a PDF file that contains text in the Adobe Myriad Pro - Open Type Pro Font. This text contains some special symbols like copyright and registration marks.
If I add a Sticky Note to this PDF and then copy some of the existing text into the Sticky Note, all is well. The special symbols appear correctly. I believe that this is because my comment preferences are also set to use Myriad Pro for viewing comments.
If I then display the comment at the bottom of the screen, again it appears correctly.
However, if I 'Print Comments / Create PDF of Comments Summary', the text in the resulting PDF is unreliable. Also, the font used in the resulting PDF changes depending on the particular workstation. Not all of the resulting fonts support the special symbols - hence the problem.
My question is 'How does Acrobat 7 or 8 Pro determine which font to use in a Comments Summary PDF'? A second question would then be 'How do I change it'?
Thanks much for any information you can provide.
Use the Create PDF of Comments Summary in the comments panel to generate the comment summary PDF. Next, select the TouchUp Text tool from the Advanced editing tools. Now, Select the font character in question and right click, choose properties, select the text tab...now you will see which font is being used for the character in question. You will see the display & original font listed ...it will alert you to any substitution issues.
