Acrobat 3D launch problems-

Hi:
Recently my computer had problems and our IT department said my Profile was corrupt and they would create a new one and transfer everything over to the new profile.

I have WinXP, Adobe Technical Communications Suite with Adobe 3D.

The problem is that whenever I try and create a PDF file by printing from any software product Acrobat tries to Repair the Installation which takes 15 minutes and it still doesn't correct the problem. However, if I try to print a PDF document, but first go into Adobe Print Preferences and click on each tab, I can then print the document, if not it will try to repair the installation again.

The next problem occurs when I try to open a PDF file. I get the following message:

"Adobe Acrobat 3D cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite
component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 3D."

When I click on OK, Acrobat closes. I have tried opening Photoshop, Framemaker, InDesign or any of the other programs in the Technical Communications suite but the same message still appears.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this might be corrected?
Thanks very in advance for any help you can provide.
Jack

Try updating Acrobat 8.1 with the latest updates.

Is this the 32-bit or 64-bit version of XP?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I am currently at version 8.1.6.

The problem "Adobe Acrobat 3D cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 3D." Was finally resolved by re-entering my registration information in one of the other Adobe products I use. As soon as I did that Acrobat began to work, not perfectly but it worked.

The other problem with Acrobat trying to "Repair the Installation" persists. However, I have discovered that when I print a PDF file, if I select the Properties button, then open each tab (paper quality and layout) Acrobat will print without any problems. However, if I don't, Acrobat will say try to "repair the installation".

This workaround is fine but it is annoying if I happen to be in a hurry and forget to open the properties and select each tab therein before attempting to print the file.
