Acrobat 8 and 5 conflicts

I need to have Acrobat 8 as well as 5 on my computer. I have found that installing 5 first then 8 makes things run as well as can be expected. What I need help with though is opening a .pdf from internet explorer.
I have everything set to open pdf's with version 8(which i would prefer as my main version, and just open 5 and open a pdf from there when i need to use 5) when i open a pdf that is saved on my hard drive it opens with 8, which is great. But when i open a pdf out of internet explorer it opens into version 5, which i don't want. If anyone can tell me how to get internet explorer to open pdf's with version 8, while still having 5 on my system that would be great.

Thank you,
Jon

Roughly speaking, the last version installed usually wins ownership of the shortcuts and browser linkage. If the browser is opening 5 by default, you may have set an explicit "Use this program for .pdf" at some point. You can go through the various IE helper dialogs (Tools > Internet Options > ... ) or the registry editor to turn off Acrobat 5, then doing a repair or reinstall of A8 should get you what you want.
