Hi, I have Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 and Vista Business 32 bits (SP1).
Whenever I go to the Edit -> Preferences... and then if I click on GEneral category everything stops and freezes. Cant event access task manager, I have to close my laptop with the power button...

I can navigate to other preferensces categories no problem

BTW, I was looking to a mean of hiding my identity when I do reviewing PDF docs. Because, everytime, I put a Sticky note, my username shows, and I dont want that by default (cannot change the default)

any ideas ?

Thanks

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Have you tried deleting you temp files?

You can modify your identify (when you get to the Preferences) under Edit > Preferences > Commenting Panel uncheck "Always use Log-in name for Author name"
Then set your identity under Edit > Preferences > Identity

Thank you for your suggestion. I am not an expert in Acrobat, so when you are saying to delete the temp files, are you refering to the c:\windows\temp folder to empty ?

Also, about the commenting... the option in question ("Always use Log-in name for Author name") is already unchecked.
and under the Identity , the field "Login Name" is already filled with my username and is Grayed out, so I cant modify it...

strange... I dont understand !
merci !

You'll find more detail on deleting the TEMP files in the following technical note, Troubleshoot system errors or freezes (Acrobat 8.x, Acrobat 3D 8 on Windows 2000 and XP).

Since you have the "Always use Log-in name for Author" unchecked you can set/change the default author name for a Sticky note by selecting the Sticky note, changing the author name under the Sticky note properties, and then "Make Current Properties Default". You may need to restart Acrobat after this.
