I am trying to load Acrobat 8 Standard on a users XP computer and I am unsuccessufl because of this error:
"Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEhelper.dll Verify that you have access to that directory"--what does that mean? And what must I do to successfully install 8 Standard.

This user has been relying on Adobe Reader 7...is that what's causing the error? or something else?! Please help.

AcroIEHelper.dll is used for the Acrobat / Internet Explorer integration. My suggestion would be to:
1) Uninstall all your exising PDF based tools (reader, A8 Standard, etc.)
2) Reboot
3) Download and run CCLEANER (www.ccleaner.com) to remove any of the 'danglies'
4) Reboot
5) Reinstall just A8 Standard.

See if that does it.
