I am running Adobe 8.0 on a Mac and have also been plagued by the application shutting down after a few seconds. There are no error messages or feedback. I have looked at the posted solutions (for Windows), but it does not address the Mac platform. I've also tried reinstalling and updating - nothing has worked. It happens on any PDF regardless of source (i.e. desktop, network, or web location).
