Acrobat Pro 9, OS X Failure; Launch prompts PDFs to Open Until Crash

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and what they have done to solve.

This started seemingly out of the blue a few weeks ago.

You try to open one PDF, all of a sudden the program apparently attempts to find all other PDFs on the hard drive and opens them too. Once it reaches a memory limit, it stalls. Only way out is to Force Quit.

I downgraded to Acrobat 8 in the meantime. But this is a bummer.

I chatted with an Adobe support rep. They told me to reinstall. I trashed the old folder, reinstalled and applied all online updates. Same exact problem persists.

Perhaps there is some preference file I would also need to eliminate. Not sure, but I feel that I can't be the only one this is happening to, and Adobe's latest update should have addressed this. But it has been weeks and weeks.

Another note. I WAS on Leopard when problem started. Since then upgraded to Snow Leopard. Problem persists.

Thanks for any advice.

I have the same problem. This began today when I received an automatic update to my Acrobat CS4. (master edition)

I'm not encouraged by your lack of success. I assumed the problem was related somehow to the update I received, but if you've had the problem for weeks, perhaps this isn't the case.

I'll keep you updated on what I hear back from Adobe support.
