Acrobat Professional 6.0 after installing Reader 8.0

I can no longer access Professional 6.0 after installing Reader 8.0.

When I try to open Professional, Reader is opened instead.

Is there a way around this?

You will have to change the file associations in Windows for all the Acrobat types to use Acrobat 6 and not Reader 8, or have Acrobat 6 open before double click the file name or icon.

I would have thought that too.

But when I open Acrobat 6 by going to the folder and clicking on Acrobat.exe, Acrobat 8.0 Reader opens!

Weird!

I must not have been clear enough. You need to make the change in 'Windows" not "Acrobat".

For Vista:

Windows XP help will have the information for doing this in Windows XP.

I suspect I am not being clear ;-)

It is not when I click on a file with a .pdf extension that Acrobat Reader 8.0 is opening.

It is when I am clicking on the physical acrobat.exe file in the Acrobat Professional 6.0 folder that Acrobat Reader opens. It is when I try to open the application directly without clicking on a PDF object.

Have you checked the program (target) being called by the shortcut you are clicking on to make sure it is calling the Acrobat 6 program and not Reader 8?
