Acrobat Toolbar

In Microsoft Office Acrobat 8 creates two toolbars that can not be turned off.
They are :
- Acrobat Connect
- Acrobat PDF Maker
Question: how to turn them off (hide them)?
Unchecking them in Customise drop-down does not work as it works with any other toolbar.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 8, Windows

The tools are run by Macros in Word. Use the Termplates and Add-ins window to turn off the macros.

Templates and Add-ins do not list Adobe toolbars. Disabling all the macros is not an option. This needs to be selective.

Therefore I still do not know how to turn them off.
It is Office 2003

Besides
This whole issue of inability to close the Adobe toolbars by means of "Customize..." looks as a bug.

If disabling the macro doesn't work for you then I'm not sure how you can get to toggle it on or off without deinstalling it. You could copy the file to another directory perhaps, but I haven't tried it. You may be faced with an either/or situation to either have it installed or deleted from the Word folder. The user forums may have more on this matter. I'd search for a similar situation posted by another user.

If you have older versions of Acrobat installed on your system, I would suggestion removing them. Sometimes the PDFMaker icon reverts to it's old postion if you multiple versions of Acrobat installed. Also, update to the latest version of Acrobat (8.1.1).
You can also try running the Help --> Repair Acrobat Installation if the problem persists.Hope this helps,
Lori

Is it possible to re-visit this? I have had exactly the same issue as jacekw. The toolbars are exceptionally annoying (regardless of what I do, they keep appearing on their own lines, reducing the open window size of the document). They are NOT accessible in the "Templates and Add-ins" menu. This should be fixable, but I don't know how.

(again: Office 2003, Acrobat Pro 8.0)

This issue of not being able to turn off the Adobe tool bar needs to be revisited. I have exactly the same issue as jacekw & frooples. The toolbars are EXCEPTIONALLY annoying as regardless of what I do, they keep appearing on their own lines, reducing the open window size of the document. They are visually unappealing too. They are NOT accessible in the "Templates and Add-ins" menu. This should be fixable, but I don't know how.

I hate this so bad, too. What an annoyance!! The PDF Maker doesn't even work on my computer anyway.

Isn't there some way to keep these dumb toolbars from showing up and taking up your workspace?

I turn them off with the command:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"

When I need to make a PDF, I turn them on again with:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll"

I hope Adobe is impressed by its users disabling their product.

Have you tried this technique:

To remove Acrobat Toolbar Buttons from Office 2003:
Choose Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Select Acrobat Professional and click Change/Remove.
Click Next.
Select Modify and click Next.
Expand the Create Adobe PDF menu, then select the Acrobat PDF Maker option, and change the status to "This feature will not be available".
Click Next, and then click Finish to complete the process and allow Acrobat to remove the PDFMaker component.

This was taken from the following technical note:

Since updating the Acrobat to 812 the problem seams to have disappeared.
The toolbar appearance in Word, Excel 2003 follows the check boxes on toolbar selection.
I think we can close the issue.
