Acrobat Upgrade on a new PC

I currently own a retail version of Acrobat 7 Standard and is currently installed on a laptop. I have recently purchased a new laptop with Vista 64bit. I have heard that Acrobat 7 has some compatibility issues with Vista 64bit so I wish to upgrade to Acrobat 9. If I purchase Acrobat 9 Standard Upgrade and want to install it on the new laptop, do I need to install Acrobat 7 prior or can I just start fresh with Acrobat 9 and will I get prompted to just insert the Acrobat 7 CD?

Neither. You will be prompted to enter the original version's serial number.
