There is obviously an incompatibility between your system and Acrobat. Several have been reported on the Adobe User to User forum

It's event been suggested that a graphics card/driver may be responsible for some failures. This may or may not be true, but either way you should read the forum thread and talking to Adobe Support.

This worked for me. Called Adobe and this is what i did...:

Move the Trusted Storage File (TSF) out of the FLEXnet folder.
Move the adobe_00080000.tsf.data file onto the desktop or to another safe location from the Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/FLEXnet folder (Windows XP), ProgramData\FLEXnet folder (Windows Vista), or the Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet folder (Mac OS).
Important: Do not delete this file. Removing this file disallows you to get any Adobe Tryout applications.
Try opening your Creative Suite 3 application. If you still cannot open the application, then continue to the next step.

I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional in Vista. Acrobat 8 Professional was closing in a few seconds. PDF files would open, then disappear, leaving only a blank page. I found that the problem on my computer was that the FLEXnet Licensing Service was disabled.

To fix this, click: Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look down the list until you see FLEXnet Licensing Service. Double Click on it. In the middle of the dialog box, you'll see a drop down menu for Start-up Type. (Of course, being that this is Vista, you may need to be logged in on an administrative account and/or confirm that you want to allow this action.)

Automatic will load the service when you boot your computer and keep the service running all the time. (Use Automatic if your computer has no problem with system resources and/or you open Acrobat frequently.) Manual will turn it on only when it's needed, then turn it off again. (Use Manual if your computer is short on resources.)

Hope this helps those running Vista. This also may work with other Windows systems, though the path to get to Services may vary.
