Hi Everyone,

I'm using a 2 X 2.26 Quad Core Intel Xeon Mac, running 10.5.8. After a clean CS4 installation, I can in no way find the print driver for Adobe PDF 9.0. Where has it gone? I uninstalled CS4 and reinstalled and it is not there as a print option. Is there a stand alone install? Or is there something I'm missing?

Thank you for your help.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.0, Macintosh

In Snow Leopard, the functionality of the Adobe PDF printer was replaced with an Automator function in the Print dialog called Save as Adobe PDF. It appears in the PDF menu at the bottom of the Print dialog.

For more information check out the blog Acrobat’s Adobe PDF Printer Replaced in Snow Leopard.

Hi!

Thanks for your reply but I am running Leopard 10.5.8 (not 10.6), I run a Digital Imaging Center with about 120 Macs--all the same model. In the image I created I did a full (easy install) of CS4 on to the master machine. There was no Adobe PDF 9.0 print driver to be found. Again, I have uninstalled and Re-installed CS4 and still no luck. This is very inconvenient for students when they are working in InDesign especially because there isn't a direct "save as PDF" option. We also have installed CS3 and the Adobe PDF 8.0 shows up no problem. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I should also add that I have the Adobe PDF 9.0 print driver on my computer which has the exact same specs, OS and CS4 installed from the same media.

:(

Thank for your help!

Sorry about the OS confusion. Have you tried running the CS4 Clean Script prior to installing CS4?

Okay--I tried deinstalling CS4, running CS4 Clean Script, reinstalling CS4. and no Adobe 9.0 driver. I tried on multiple machines. I might have to give up. ?? I'm baffled. And why is it available on my machine with identical specs and OS, but not the others. ughh. Thanks for the suggestions!

You might try using the Adobe Support Advisor to determine what the problem may be with the installation. There are also some additional suggestions in the Troubleshoot installation problems with Adobe Creative Suite 4 or Point Products on Mac OS X technical note.

Okay! So I resolved my issue! All I needed to do while I have Acrobat 9.0 open is Choose Help>Repair Acrobat Installation. and it repaired or added the missing ppd. I got the idea to try to repair from the link below:http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406218.php

Thanks to everyone for their help!

Hello everyone,

I'm running "Mac OS X Version 10.6.4... I recently installed "Adobe CS5" complete with Acrobat 9. I'm trying to us the "multiple pages per sheet" print option which worked real well in Acrobat 8 (on the earlier version of the Mac OS), and I'm getting an error message that says "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save." which will not help me out at all... Does anyone know if there's a "work around" for this issue, or something that can be done to bring back that "wonderful" functionality?

I have Adobe Reader 9.3.4. and am using Windows XP. When I try to print a document off the web to a .PDF file, I select my file printer screen but the ability to select "print to "PDF" is not there (my other printers ((HP printers; File Cabinet; Microsoft etc)) are available). Is this because I have a free edition of Adobe or have I missed something?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Vic,

"Print to pdf" feature is not available with Adobe Reader. This is a functionality of Adobe Acrobat.
