Adobe Reader opens and then closes

Hey all, this is my first post and I'm needing some help.

My business sells and finances cars in Texas. Texas has implemented an internet vehicle registration system so that vehicles recently sold are instantly linked to the buyer instead of having to wait for the vehicle to be registered by the state, which can often take weeks. You access the Texas Department of Transportation's website, log in, and enter the customer's information. When you generate the tag, adobe reader will pop up and from there you can print the "e-Tag."

This worked for several months, but now whenever we try to generate a tag, Adobe Reader opens for just a couple of seconds and then closes. I have disabled all pop up blockers, and still can't get AR to keep the pdf open.

In firefox, Adobe Reader will still stay open. The problem with Firefox is that it is difficult to enter all of the customer's information because the website is not compatible with Mozilla yet.

Any suggestions? The computer we have designated to create and print these e-tags has Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8, and Adobe Reader 9.1

Thanks in advance,
Chris

My Product Information:
Reader 9.1, Windows

Hi Chris,

My first suggestion is to update to Reader 9.2, which supports IE8. The update is a full installer.
Let us know if this corrects the problem.

lkassuba,

Thank you for your help, that did the trick. I'm a bit embarrassed that it was that easy. I should have checked to see if there was a more recent version, although I believe the computer as had IE 8 for several months now and only recently did it start having this problem.

Thanks again!
Chris

Hi,
Reader 9.2 will not show on line PDFs, nor can I reinstall this program. Had an issue with a virus, and now it is all messed up. I can however open it directly from the folder. Cannot view on line though.

Reader 9.2 plugin seems to work fine with IE8, but when I try to run the stand-alone application it crashes with a Data Execution Protection Error (Vista Home Premium). I have tried uninstalling, then removing all references to reader in the registry before downloading again and re-installing, but it still won't run.

Check out the following technical note and see if your registry keys are pointing to the correct version of Acrobat:
